chrome won't become default browser on KDE

Often when I open chrome on KDE it askes me if I want to make it my default browser. I tell it to set it to default but it never does. When I click on links outside of chrome it just goes to konquorer.

Same here on xfce. That used to work before.

Is the dialogue printed by Chrome/Chromium or by KDE? And if it's the former, is there any output on stdout/stderr?

In Chromium. No output. Maybe related to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/chromium-browser/+bug/902661 (for XFCE)
