Does anyone has documentation to perform the above mentioned steps? I want to install glusterfs server, and create a cluster, create volumes or add previously existing volumes and later add it to /etc/fstab equivalent file in NixOS to mount the volume and access them.

Noup, but we have nixos module for xtremefs, that should be good alternative and by some reports works fine.

Thanks for the suggestion. I will give it a try. However, I want to learn myself as how to package software and contribute to NixOS. I am still learning by looking at the basic tutorials available and nixpkgs lib. Any pointer in that direction would be helpful. Thanks!

Figured out. The available package in the repo works fine. I need to figure out as how to write NixOS module such that the gluster service is launched at the boot time.
