How to change locale?

The TenFourFox, TenFiveFox and TenSixFox versions that I distribute are already localized. YOU SHOULDN'T USE THE TenFourFox LANGPACKS MADE FOR THE PowerPC VERSION OR THE .xpi LANGPACKS OF Firefox!

This guide will give you instructions to change the default locale (English) to one of the other available languages.

How to change the locale?

  • To change the locale open TenFourFox and type about:config in the address bar and press Return.
    • If a scary warning message appears, just click on I accept the risk! (and, don't worry, this won't void your warranty).
  • Type general.useragent.locale in the seach box and then double-click on this parameter to change it.
  • Set the string value for general.useragent.locale to one of the following (and only the values in the following table are valid):
Language Language Corresponding general.useragent.locale value
German Deutsch de
Spanish (Spain) Español (España) es-ES
English (United States) English (United States) en-US
Finnish Suomalainen fi
French Français fr
Italian Italiano it
Polish Polski pl
Russian русский ru
Swedish (Sweden) Svenska (Sveringe) sv-SE
  • Don't forget to click OK ;-). You can restart TenFourFox in order to validate the change.

NOTE: If you're using several profiles in TenFourFox, you need to repeat this operation for all your profiles.
