The goal is to have the actuarial community author our textbooks in a collaborative fashion. The text Loss Data Analytics represents our first book.
This project is about creating a short course based on the Loss Data Analytics book - see below for a description of the book. See the short course proposal.
Loss Data Analytics is be an interactive, online, freely available text.
- The online version contains many interactive objects (quizzes, computer demonstrations, interactive graphs, video, and the like) to promote deeper learning.
- A subset of the book is available for offline reading in pdf and EPUB formats.
- The online text will be available in multiple languages to promote access to a worldwide audience.
To see our progress, a current version of the book is available at Online Version
GitHub provides a natural development environment to achieve this goal.
- The more stable version is available through the "Production" Github Landing Site - designed for students and classes.
- The more frequently updated version is available through the first "Development" Github Landing Site - designed for instructors and developers.
- We are now porting resources to a newer, second "Development" Github center - designed for instructors and developers.
Code, data, offline versions and more are available through these portals.
See the Open Actuarial Textbooks Project Site for more information about this project.
A team is also working on a new text, tentatively titled Life Contingencies: The Mathematics, Statistics, and Economics of Life Insurance. A summary of the book is available online, code for the book is available above. One way to get a working copy of the code is to hit the green "Code button" and then "Download ZIP".
More to come later.
