Replace the inactive and bad documented osmdroid with the currently active developed mapsforge.

Pros/Cons?

Edit: _Mapsforge_

Pros:

  • Active developed project
  • Vector maps (better quality on high-dpi devices)
  • Well documented
  • Support for offline maps (but not for online maps? 👎 )
  • Vector maps consume less storage space / bandwidth
