Hi, I've written the second blog post, and it's only a short presentation of what is epub2. Something that may be more useful to know is my python implementation of a "low-level" library to read epub files, with documentation available at http://epub.exirel.me/

If you have questions about the format (in French or English, just tell me what you prefer) I may help, as I've had to learn the standard to write such library.

Well, it might be also a good motivation for me to write more about epub on my blog... Thanks for the mention! :)

What is the implementation/planning status of this?

Not saying that I intend to right away, I may in general have interest in at least getting started on implementing this. The previously posted Grandt/PHPePub seems to be a pretty good library for ePub creation. Would it be feasible to depend on that or would PHPWord rather not have more dependencies?

@eFrane The team leader is @troosan.

But if you want to implement it, implement it : PhpOffice Team is open to pull requests.
But use Grandt/PHPePub may be a bad idea because it has no activity since 3 years.

@eFrane Indeed, I wouldn't add a dependency to a project that does not seem very alive anymore.
Right now I do not have time to add this functionality, but if you submit a pull request I would be happy to review it!

@Progi1984 @Exirel should I directly implement the epub 3 or should I stick to epub 2?

@Sambit003 You can use ePub 3.
