  • AIs & Borgs can now open/close Escape airlocks like they can with other airlocks.
  • This enables AIs/borgs to actually respond to requests from crew to open these - rather than having to patiently explain "no, those airlocks are special, they look exactly the same but I have no control over them" every single time.
  • It also creates a convenient space exit/entry on the east side of the station.
  • As this PR does not remove the "unhackable" attribute of these doors, if you cut the AI control wire, the AI has no way of regaining control of these doors.
  • As this PR only changes the red Escape airlocks, AIs do not gain any control over the white doors on the actual shuttle.

- AI can now open/close escape airlocks.
- Prevents AIs/borgs from being regularly yelled at for being unable to
do so.
- Also creates an exit/entry to space on the east side of the station.
- If worried about AIs bolting people in, just cut AI control. The doors
are still marked unhackable, so if you disable AI control of these
doors, AI cannot get it back.

So now escape airlocks can be opened if they do not upon shuttle arrival? I wonder how that will go for Escape Alone objectives

@taukausanake If they don't open on shuttle arrival, they were probably welded shut, or emagged. AIs cannot open welded doors, and I'm told they can't open emagged ones either. So, this should not make any difference to escape alone objectives.

To be honest the meta of "Weld/ emag escape doors half an hour prior, wait outside the shuttle cockpit area, break in and emag the console" should die regardless.

Well...I mean, it's cheesey, but there's also something to be said about not killing everyone at escape either.

I think I prefer murdering everyone at escape so long as you hide the bomb good enough. That or telescience it in. Also no arguments there.

So when the doors don't open due to escape alone it normally means the door were emagged? You learn something new every day

The major improvement of this is that it adds a starboard airlock for use during the round without needing to breach. The Fore Staboard area of the station doesn't have an airlock unless you go to the Fore Starboard airlock above Botany, the only other space access between the two Starboard solar arrays would be Toxins and Science Shuttle.

I do think that not having control of these SPECIFIC red airlocks is dumb. Why was that ever made a thing? All other red airlocks are AI controlled.

It was so the AI didn't vent atmos during the golden age of ZAS.
Also, at least murderboning requires effort (although it's also dumb).

These airlocks still had an airlock controller for the longest time that the AI could cycle and force doors open that way, the airlock controller was removed a while after LINDA was implemented but control of the airlocks was never given back. I also think we are one of the few servers where the escape airlock is bolted for most of a shift, nearly every other server and map I've played on the airlocks are unbolted and public access to allow anyone to space themselves or the clown.

They just haven't been refactored after ZAS left. ZAS was the reason we were different on quite a few things and even now we just haven't caught up on everything we needed to fix/look at afterwards. That may happen in the future where the airlocks get unbolted.
