About the group

The Grassroots Router is a two level network calling tool and campaign template intended to amplify signal and reduce noise and to channel national energy to strategic targets. It breaks down grassroots calling campaigns into two parts. First, a target district is identified and voter files and donor data is used to build a list of "active citizens" in that target district. Second, callers from outside the district and around the country use the tool to call the targeted "active citizens" to ask them to call their representatives with the desired message.

For example, the tool would allow callers from around the country to be connected with Devin Nunes supporters from CA-22 to ask them to call Nunes's offices with a message of putting country first and allowing the Russia election influence investigations to progress.

Who we're looking for

We are looking for:

  1. People with experience building and running calling tools.
  2. People with a data science background for establishing best practices for identifying "active citizens."

Tools

The project is still in the design stage.

@MartinWall I built and run CallPower.org, and have also been investigating building a tool like this. I have recently applied to New Media Ventures through their Innovation Fund for support. Would you like to talk on the phone or on Slack about how we can work together and avoid duplication?

I now have a prototype tool built and running at https://demo.dialpower.org (code at https://github.com/opensourceactivismtech/dial-power). If anyone is interested in helping build this project to meet the real needs of campaigns in 2017/8, please join me there.
