Introduction

The Trello App Backend is built to support the Trello application, providing a robust and scalable backend solution. It is designed to handle user authentication, data storage, and management of boards and cards.

Tech Stack

  • Express: Express is used as the web framework for Node.js, providing a robust set of features for building web applications and APIs.
  • Node.js: Node.js is a JavaScript runtime used for building scalable network applications.
  • Rate Limiter: Rate limiter middleware is implemented to protect against brute-force attacks and ensure the stability of the application.
  • Redis: Redis is used as a caching layer to improve performance and scalability.
  • PostgreSQL: PostgreSQL is used as the primary database for storing application data.
  • Prisma: Prisma is an ORM (Object-Relational Mapping) used for database access and management.
  • Docker: Docker is used for containerization, enabling easy deployment and scaling of the application.

Setup Instructions

To set up the Trello App Backend locally, follow these steps:

  1. Clone the repository:
    git clone https://github.com/Rahul-ku-Mo/Work-Tracker-backend

  2. Navigate to the project directory:
    cd Work-Tracker-backend

  3. Install dependencies:
    npm install

  4. Set up environment variables by creating a .env file based on the provided .env.example file.
  5. Ensure that Redis and PostgreSQL are installed and running locally or u might need to use docker.
  6. Run database migrations:
    npx prisma migrate dev

  7. Start the server:
    npm start

Deployment

The Work Tracker Backend is designed to be easily deployed on platforms like Render. Follow these general steps to deploy the application:

  1. Set up a Render account and create a new web service.
  2. Configure the service with appropriate environment variables.
  3. Connect the service to your GitHub repository.
  4. Render will automatically build and deploy the application based on your configuration.

Usage

Once the backend is set up and deployed, it can be used by the WorkTracker frontend or any other client application. The API endpoints exposed by the backend can be accessed according to the API documentation provided.
