I'm a CentOS guy from way back and wanted to see if I could get it working. My pseudo-justification is that I am working on a tutorial which starts with Cloudera's CDH VM and it's CentOS-based, so it's easier to stick to one flavor of Limux. In any case, someone may find it helpful. I chose a recent AMI of 4.6 from RightScale, as they seem to have a pretty good rep.

Also, I updated a couple of comments as Whirr 0.7.1 has been released and does fix the Java problems.

HTH,
Jeffrey

OK, previous comment was confused since I was mixing the issue of arguments to scripts with the issue of parametrized configuration files. Let's chalk it up to strata hangover. If we get too many of these we will think of a way to refactor it or propose something to whirr. I merged with dev though in keeping with our (admittedly, still work in progress) source control model.

It seems that the new function for oracle java is install_oracle_jdk6 but it doesn't seem to work for me. Reaching out to Savu to get his take.
