How should I correctly import the library for javascript project?

First, thanks for your awesome library.

I have a question. I am not very fluent in JS/TS, you will notice it as I explain my problem 😄.
I have an issue using the library in code which I covered in mocha tests:
Just running npx mocha I see

Error [ERR_MODULE_NOT_FOUND]: Cannot find module '...\node_modules\@opentelemetry\otlp-transformer\build\src\common\internal' imported from ...\node_modules\opentelemetry-sdk-workers\dist\chunk-3AAH5RA7.mjs

My project is a JS project with type: module in package.json.
As I understand, in es6 modules the explicit extension is required when doing imports and the target file is not .mjs.
If I manually change the import to be
import { toAttributes, toAnyValue } from "@opentelemetry/otlp-transformer/build/src/common/internal.js";
it works.

Do you have any ideas or suggestions here?

@oxcafedead that's odd. I think they might be the default loading behavior of if you're using Node16 or higher without a bundler. I'm afraid I don't have any good advice except to add a bundler like Babel or Vite to your unit tests as a fix. I can see about fixing this in the future though.

Thanks, I will try to use bundler before running tests, this makes sense to me.
