No one can change profile settings. #20236

Description:

BUG 1

No one can change profile settings, this prompt appears even when all correct passwords have been typed in. This issue can be solved for some people by using incognito.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Go to profile settings.
  2. Change a setting.
  3. Error is produced.

Expected behavior:

When changing a setting, we are expecting for the changes to be made without this error.

Actual behavior:

Changes aren't being made to the user's profile. It keeps producing errors.

Description:

BUG 2

Reloading the website while not being logged in prompts this error.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Logout.
  2. Reload the page.
  3. Error is produced.

Expected behavior:

When reloading the page, while logged out, it should not be producing errors.

Actual behavior:

User should be able to re-load the page, while logged out without seeing these errors.

Description:

BUG 3

The sound volume number for notifications is messed up in profile settings.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Navigate to Settings > Notifications > Sounds
  2. Sound shows as an incorrect value.

Expected behavior:

Show a valid value.

Actual behavior:

Showing incorrect value.

  • Version of Rocket.Chat Server: 3.10.4

I could not reproduce the bug you mentioned on the web client. Could you please mention what client you're using as well and on what platform.

Hello,
Thank you for your quick response. We are using the web client via Firefox and Brave browsers. As for the platform, we are using and running xubuntu 20.04 and Windows 10. I've looked into it more detailed, and have noticed the issues have more to do with making changes that require the user's password.

To clarify, to reproduce the error when the user reloads the page, when logged out, the logged out user has to be in a channel.

Hi! I have this same problem when I want to edit the profile settings. However I found that deleting the password and trying to save it again works normally.

I could not reproduce the bug you mentioned on the web client. Could you please mention what client you're using as well and on what platform.

We are facing the same BUG 1 (invalid password at profile change) + BUG 2 on RC 3.9.3.

BUG 1 is duplicate of #19604 , may be fixed with #20737 .
