This is only needed if you want to update the font or it is the first time flashing SAMUD OSD on this piece of hardware
- You will need:
- Connect the FTDI and OSD like this:
MinimOSD | FTDI |
---|---|
GND | GND |
5V | 5V |
RX | TX |
TX | RX |
DTR | DTR |
- Plug it in your PC
- Download the latest version of
Start_Package_V*
here and unzip the package. - Open
XLoader.exe
inside the unzipped folder- Select the right COM-Port (if there is more than one, just unplug and replug your FTDI)
- Select
Duemilanove/Nano(ATmega328)
as Device if you are using a normal minimOSD. SelectUno(ATmega328)
if you are using a SteelePDB. - For the HEX-File, go into the downloaded folder and select 'FontFlasherVxxxxx.ino.hex'
- If you are using the SteelePDB use the Steele-Version. Otherwise use the "minimOSD" version.
- If you want to flash the Steele PDB you will need to disconnect Port2-cable between FC and PDB and power up the Quad from battery and USB at the same time.
- Press Upload and wait until finished. Put on your googles and wait until you see a message saying "Font updated". This will take about 30 seconds.
- If you are using a normal minimOSD (Steele PDB-users can skip this step) it's now time to reset the Memory-chip. Simply flash the provided
clear_eeprom.ino.hex
and wait until the status led tuns on and keeps on. (about 5sec after flashing). - You have installed the font. Now you can flash the SAMUDOSD:
-
Download the latest release named
SAMUDOSD_V**
. Pay attention to use the right Version for your Hardware. Steele is for the ImpulseRC Steele PDB and the other one is for the normal minimOSD. - Open XLoader , select the right Device, Com-Port and select the downloaded file
- see above for downloading the Start_Package and using XLoader
- Click on upload
- When finished, remove your FTDI, turn on your Quad and either adapt the OSD settings or go flying.
