November 8, 2022 Meeting

  • Code Camp Debrief
    • new repo for admin tickets
    • new PR template to help with reviews
    • Roadmap to be updated from discussion then reviewed
    • FFT methods discussion.
  • issue cleanup
    • A significant number of issues were closed or moved to discussion during code camp.
    • Need more work to clean out... Also in sasmodels
  • branch cleanup
    • The number of branches is getting out of hand. Some cleanup has started but more is needed. See issue #2370
  • Next release?
    • Normally we aim towards a release post code camp activity. This is now complicated given the large number of changes to main, some of which will probably break backward compatibility (the price of success?).
    • There is the added complication of the self-imposed feature parity. This is partly to help migrate the relatively large number of folks who are still using 4.x which we can no longer support.
    • These levels of changes probably requires jumping to 6.0. Further testing will need to be very rigorous.
    • On the other hand we cannot wait "forever" for a release to the larger community. One option might be to make a point release, e.g. 5.0.6 with some small but impactful number of the bug fixes in main? But this will require diverting resources...
  • Pull Requests (sasmodels, sasview, sasmodels-marketplace, sasdata?)
  • Discussion on sasview issues
    • on #2370 see comments added about agreement to move toward more normalized naming of branches and linking to issues.
  • Fork vs Branch discussion
  • AOB?
