Description

This bug report: #5331 was previously completed and created some unexpected behavior. The Root Group setting is (and has always been) under the Add Group heading. That bug report made it sound like it should be a filter on what is displayed, but it seems it should be on what groups are available to be added from the block. There are already settings in the block for grouptypes to include/exclude from the results grid:

When a Root Group is selected, now only the 1st level of groups below the selected root groups are displayed, instead of all groups under the Root. Also - it is now acting as a filter for the grid display as well.

Actual Behavior

When choosing a Root Group in the Group List block settings (under Add Group), the results Grid filters only to that Group or 1 level below. If a group is nested 2 or more levels below the root group, it doesn't display.

Expected Behavior

The expected behavior of this block setting based on it being under the Add Group heading is that it ONLY affects what groups are available when clicking the Add button. It should not affect what groups are displayed in the grid.

Steps to Reproduce

  • Go to Group List
  • Click on Block Settings
  • Scroll down to Add Group -> Root Group
  • Select Root Group with more than 1 level of subgroups
  • Save
  • Groups person is member of in subgroups will not display

Issue Confirmation

  • Perform a search on the Github Issues to see if your bug or enhancement is already reported.
  • Try to reproduce the problem on a fresh install or on the demo site.
