Workflow Liquid Error in My Tasks

I've created a workflow for our catering requests which is a modified copy of the IT request. It works correctly except that the worker's My Tasks block on the homepage shows:

Took a while to figure out what was causing this but finally found one of the workflow attributes was blowing this up. It was single select radio button called Meal Type (key of MealType) with Breakfast,Lunch,Dinner,Snacks,Drinks,Other as values. Switching to Drop Down instead still breaks it but changing to other things like Integer is no problem.

EDIT: Actually, adding any custom attributes causes this error to appear.
