Tbro blast: "psql: FATAL: sorry, too many clients already"

When loading the blast page of TBro, there are no blast-DBs selectable. When @iimog and me tried to investigate this error, we found the following error given by the worker database:

Error!: SQLSTATE[08006] [7] FATAL:  sorry, too many clients already<br/>

Any ideas what this may cause?
