Setting up the WPA Kiosk

If using advanced network security at your event, teams can program their robot radios using the same utility that is used at official FRC events. Note that this is different from the configuration utility provided to teams for home use; you can obtain a copy only by reaching out to the FTA supporting your event.

Usage instructions

  1. Ensure advanced network security is enabled in the Cheesy Arena Setup -> Settings page.
  2. Ensure WPA keys have been generated for all teams on the Setup -> Team List page.
  3. Download the WPA key file using Report -> WPA Keys.
  4. Install the FRC Event Radio Kiosk on a Windows computer that has an Ethernet port.
  5. Open the Kiosk and follow the instructions to set up your event.
  6. Set the event name as the event code (CC19)
  7. Name the WPA key file eventcode_keys (CC19_keys)
  8. Select the WPA key file downloaded from Cheesy Arena when prompted.

Alternative instructions using the normal radio utility

  1. Follow the process above to get the WPA Keys.
  2. Launch the FRC Radio Configuration Utility
  3. Remember to disable "extra" network adapters (except for the one you are using to connect the laptop to the radio) prior to launching the utility. If the utility didn't work you probably didn't DISABLE the WIFI adapter. DISABLE not disconnect. Point made?
  4. Inside the FRC Radio Configuration Utility select Tools --> FMS Offseason Mode
  5. Put the team number for the SSID popup
  6. Put the WPA key from the WPA Key list for that team
  7. Put the team number in the team number box
  8. Click Configure

Note: If that doesn't work and you are 100% sure you complied with the DISABLE "advice", then you may need to flash the radio and repeat the process.

Also, notice that this places the Robot Radio (RR) into bridging mode. So, the drive station will NOT see the RR. When the RR is powered up it is constantly trying to connect to field AP (WRT1900ACS). So, have that part working first.
