Coniferous Forest

But...sir...isn't the Taiga already a Coniferou--?

The Coniferous Forest biome is home to the Fir tree, a tall but thin tree with dark logs and leaves. Fir trees can vary greatly in height from about 15 to 30 blocks tall! The base Coniferous Forest biome has a moderate height, but the Coniferous Wooded Hills biome has a much higher elevation.

High Coniferous Forest

The High Coniferous Forest is nearly identical to the normal Coniferous Forest, but it has a much higher elevation than even the highest peaks of the Coniferous Wooded Hills.

Generation

Coniferous Forest

The Coniferous Forest generates less often than a Forest in temperate climates (4/5 as often), while in cool climates it can generate rarely:

  • Coniferous Forest (traverse:coniferous_forest): the base Coniferous Forest biome with moderate height and height variation.
  • Coniferous Wooded Hills (traverse:coniferous_wooded_hills): the raised variant of the Coniferous Forest.

High Coniferous Forest

The High Coniferous Forest (traverse:high_coniferous_forest) generates 1/4 as often as the standard Coniferous Forest.

Climate

The Coniferous Forest gets a substantial amount of rainfall which contributes to its deep green grass color.

Also check out the Snowy Coniferous Forest, which features snow!

Trivia

The Coniferous Forest is a biome inspired by a biome from the mod Extra Biomes, the Temperate Rainforest, which looked like this:
