Remote desktop

The virtual machine is running a Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) server on TCP port 3389
. To access the desktop:
- Start a RDP client on your local machine.
- Use the IP address or host name of the VM as the
PC name
. - Connect.
- You will then be presented with the
xrdp
login screen:
- Select
Xorg
as the session. - Enter the VM username (default:
sirfuser
). - Enter the VM password (default:
sirf%1
). These are the details that were set during the building of the VM.
- You will then be presented with the Ubuntu unity desktop:
- The sidebar may take a few moments to appear first time.
- If presented with the Ubuntu login screen, the password is the same as the VM password.
- While the session should persist after disconnection, it is recommended that you save your work beforehand.
