Suggested hierarchy:

1. Producer
2. Editor: someone who oversees and compiles a publication¹ * Contributing Editor * Lead editor * Graphics editor * Managing editor * Executive Editor * Production editor
3. Author: someone who writes a publication * Contributing Author * Coordinating Lead Author * Lead Author * Convening Lead Author²
4. Contributor: someone who oversees, provides, or creates written or non-prose input (e.g., figures, tables) * Analyst * Contributor * Graphic artist
5. Facilitator
6. Distributor: the entity on whose server the document can be found
7. Host: similar but for web pages
8. Funding Agency: self-evident although not constrained to Federal agencies

¹ Although not currently in GCIS, I have seen these terms used in various reports cited by the NCA3.

² In the context of the NCA3, per Glynis most of the chapter writing was performed by the Lead Authors and the other authors. See e-mail forward in this document.
