Everything that deserves a closer look
🆕 From v.1.8.1, you can make V's tell you where the game is reading the savegames directly clicking the related button from the "Extra tab" from within the V's fix.
Savegame location are:

Retail unpatched game OR Retail game with <= 1.6 V's Fix version OR GOG Game version:
- Savegames are inside the game install folder, inside a folder called 'savedata'.
- i.e: if the Retail game version is installed in
C:\Program Files (x86)\KONAMI\Metal Gear Solid 2 Substance- Savegame are inside
C:\Program Files (x86)\KONAMI\Metal Gear Solid 2 Substance\savedata
- Savegame are inside
- i.e: if the GOG game version is installed in

Retail game with V's fix version from 1.7 and above:
- A patch will write savegames inside a different folder from the standard one. If the fix find savegames inside the old location, it will prompt it to the user, and will move them inside the new location
- Savegames now are inside 'My documents' folder, inside the subfolders 'My Games\METAL GEAR SOLID 2 SUBSTANCE'
- i.e: If your system user is 'Frank', savegame will be inside
C:\Users\Frank\Documents\My Games\METAL GEAR SOLID 2 SUBSTANCE
- i.e: If your system user is 'Frank', savegame will be inside
In every case, the savegame folder contain other subfolders with savedata of each scenario or saveslot you made.
Perform these actions:
- Uninstall the game (either from GOG or from Control Panel).
- Answer 'Retain savedata and game config' when you uninstall!
- Be sure that you latest savedata are inside the 'Documents\My Games\METAL GEAR SOLID 2 SUBSTANCE' folder!
- You can find various inner folder called 'Game Data 00','Game Data 01' ecc
- DELETE EVERY MGS2 RELATED FILE INSIDE THE GOG GAME FOLDER YOU JUST UNINSTALLED
- i.e: if the GOG game version is installed in
G:\GOG Games\Metal Gear Solid 2 Substance- Delete the whole
G:\GOG Games\Metal Gear Solid 2 Substancefolder, if exist
- Delete the whole
- This will avoid issues with obsolete files
- i.e: if the GOG game version is installed in
- Install the GOG Game version
- (Optional) If using GOG Galaxy, enable the 'GOG Galaxy Cloud'
- Go to the game install folder and create a 'savedata' folder aside the 'bin' folder, if doesn't exist

- Start it, and configure the game as you like
- Start the game from GOG Galaxy at least once
You lost your savegames? You want to play with all special items unlocked? Well, I've got something for you.
To install these savegames, download the savegame you want clicking on the DOWNLOAD link, extract the CONTENT of the zip files inside one of the directory I've mentioned above, depending on the version of fix you have installed.
- All scenario finished - DOWNLOAD
- Tanker and Plant chapter finished (some special item unlocked), all VR mission finished and unlocked, all Snake Tales completed
🆕 From the 1.8 version of the fix, some filthy things are hidden inside the configuration files. To unleash full nanomachines powers, configure the game through V's fix at least once, CLOSE THE V'S FIX and than open the Configuration_file.ini file you can find inside the bin game folder.
You can find several voices under the [Cheats] category. To activate one, replace the false (or empty) string to true aside whatever cheat you want to apply, then save the file. Then press the 'OPTION' button from the fix, then simply 'SAVE', and the cheat(s) will be applied.

Drebin Mode
- Cheat provided by WhiteSnoop
- It unlock every weapon with infinite ammo, and unlock every item with infinite uses.
- ❗️ DON'T select a weapon that isn't normally available inside the chapter/scenario, otherwise the game will crash immediately. In other words:
- TANKER SCENARIOS: You can select only M9 Tranquilizer and USP.
- PLANT SCENARIOS: You can select everything aside USP.

Unlock radar
- Cheat provided by WhiteSnoop
- Soliton radar will be always visible, even on Alert phase and even if you didn't downloaded the room map through terminal (Plant chapter)
- Radar must be on in the ingame game settings!

Torture autopass
- 🆕 Can be enabled from v1.8.1
- Cheat provided by eol
- There's no need to button smash your way through "certain scenes" near the end of the game. A panacea for your thumbs.
- The torture duration is always the same
- Works on every difficult
The new steam library is much more modern, and allow to add custom banner and logos to almost every game. If you used the Add the game on Steam function (or you added the game manually), you can personalize your game to look as the other in your steam library!

Download some artworks from below, then open your Steam, right click on the banners/logo/grid space and select "Set personalized banner/logo/grid". Then simply select the just download picture on your disk.
