NOTE: the steps on this page are a one-time only thing. If you've done all of this and installed Solus, then you won't have to follow these steps ever again!
Before you begin, you should make sure that you have the following:
- A backup of the ChromeOS operating system which came pre-installed in case something goes wrong. You can follow Google's little guide for this (just a few steps!): https://support.google.com/chromebook/answer/6002417?hl=en
- If you want to, claim your free Google goodies: https://www.google.com/chrome/devices/goodies.html
- If you've used ChromeOS prior to following this guide, also make sure you backup your personal files. Installing Solus means that the current contents of your SSD will be wiped.
- Use another computer to download Solus from https://solus-project.com/download/ and to create the USB key. The Solus wiki explains how to create the USB key (just a few steps!): https://wiki.solus-project.com/Installation But do skip the last step of rebooting, you're not ready to do that just yet. Head on over to the next page to prepare for that!
