Alright! Now let's begin preparing your Chromebook for booting Solus!
First off, you need to enable Developer Mode. This may sound a bit scary but trust me: it isn't. This is how you do it:
- Power off your Dell Chromebook 13.
- Press and hold the Esc + Refresh keys, then press the Power button.
- Now we're in what's called the Recovery Mode. You won't see anything special, but just press Ctrl + D. It will ask you to confirm that you really want to do this.
- After you've confirmed, the Chromebook will begin to set up itself all over again, this time with Developer Mode enabled. Just wait for it to finish.
- After it's finished, hit Ctrl + D again when the white screen appears. You will be brought back to the ChromeOS setup screen. Follow that well-known setup wizard.
Now all that's left to do is to tell your Chromebook to allow booting other OS's. Again: this may sound a bit scary but trust me: it isn't.
- Now that you're back on the desktop, press Ctrl + Alt + T. This will open up a terminal.
- Type shell
- Now type sudo bash
- Last but not least, type crossystem dev_boot_usb=1 dev_boot_legacy=1
Now you're all set! Continue to the next page to boot the Solus Live USB and install it!
