Error while reading "ScreenMain".xml

I decided to get a dedicated Vocaluxe Machine, so I salvaged some old parts.
Unfortunately, the Nightly Build doesn't start at all. The stable release works as intended.
Since I was using the nighlty build on my laptop since literally forever, I am used to the feel of it and want to use it here too.

Has anybody an idea?

Did you unpacked the whole zip file? It seems, that files from the themes directory is missing or too old.

Yes, I did everything twice.
Downloaded twice, unpacked with 7zip twice in different locations, rebooted several times.
Funny enough, I went to my gaming rig, to try it there and it worked as intended.
So it has to be a problem with my machine or it’s specs.
I’ll grab a dedicated graphics card this afternoon, to see if the internal one is maybe too weak or faulty or something.
My notebook is a whole generation older, so I thought I’d be safe with this workstation, but it seems that I was wrong.

Maybe issues with a security software? Or do you use the same one on all PCs? Does the ScreenMain.xml file exists in the Themes\Genius\Screens directory, file size 6.501 Bytes?

Quick workaround idea: delete theme all videos C:\Users\Karaoke\Downloads\Vocaluxe_Nightly_Windows_x64\Themes\Genius\*.mp4 and try again

@Stefan1200-de Yes, I checked the file size after reading the other issue related to the screenmain.XML

@lukeIam I tried the problem solver first, it told me I didn’t have a software called gstreamer.
I am pretty sure, that I don’t have this piece of software on the other machines either. Installed it though, but it didn’t work.

After that, I tried deleting all the MP4 files and suddenly it worked
I don’t know yet what the problem is because windows had no issues playing these files, but at least Vocaluxe is working now.
I will load up my song folder and see if I can play.

Well, this is the crash dump I get when I am trying to load a song.
I could hear the sound but had no video preview; when I clicked on “Play” it crashed.

I think it’s pretty obvious, that something is wrong with my internal video card

Please open the Config.xml file in your Vocaluxe directory with notepad (recommend Notepad++) and check the value PlayBackLib (should be somewhere around line 74), default is GstreamerSharp. Whats set on your end?

So, today I was able to get the graphics card up and running, but the problem remains the same.

0.4.1 runs wonderful, the nightly build crashes...

It seems, it has something to do with the video playback, is there something system-wise I can do? Maybe some sort of codec is missing?

About that part of Vocaluxe I don't have much knowledge. Maybe @lukeIam can help here.

The nightly build use a much newer ffmpeg build to play video files than the old 0.4.X versions. Maybe there are some sort of incompatibilities.

Look like https://github.com/Vocaluxe/Vocaluxe/blob/develop/Vocaluxe/Lib/Video/CVideoDecoderFFmpeg.cs#L46 fails and returns null and in the next step we are getting an exception because we can't set the positions on null.
But the reason for this is a bit tricky:
easiest explanation: "C:\Users\Karaoke\Downloads\Vocaluxe_Nightly_Windows_x64\Songs\Glass Animals - Heat Waves\Glass Animals - Heat Waves.mp4" does not exist or is spelt differently.
If not either the threadding or the initialization of ffmpeg have a problem here.
(for the last: is the correct version of the visual c++ redistributables correctly installed)

Well, I thought I did install the right version, your Vocaluxe Problem Checker installed one nontheless. But both fail...
The Video File is there as it is supposed to be.

Oh boy, I just did a thing... Now it runs... Sometimes, I feel so stupid, I shouldn't even know how to breathe.
Well, I thought I did install the right version of Visual C++, @lukeIam's Vocaluxe Problem Solver installed another one. But both failed...
After reading @lukeIam's very last sentence, I compared the installed Visual C++ Redistributables on my Karaoke Machine vs. my Gaming Rig, where I know, Vocaluxe runs.
So I noticed, that I have much more versions on the Gaming Rig, so I thought, I should install them on the Karaoke Machine too.
To cut a long story short, after installing the latest one (2015-2022), Vocaluxe runs very very fine.

I'll suggest a note in the readme.md, to prevent others from failing so hard like I did.

@JanK118 can we close this issue, since you have installed the modern DotNet Framework? Or do you still have this error message related to "ScreenMain.xml"?

@lukeIam since the Visual C++ 2010 runtime is end of life since 2 years, it is good that the Nightly use a more modern version. But of course, the readme should reflect this (which it does now).
