I'm using parse_and_save_options() in some internal code, but if used with --, it returns None.

From the optparse docs:
bare -- (if not the argument to some option): halt command-line processing and discard the --
We currently return None, but instead we should return arg_map.

For now I'm working around this in my own code, but it's a pain.
