--== OVERVIEW ==-- Graphserver provides a C implementation of Djikstra's shortest path algorithm. This algorithm can be used to solve any number of problems, including street routing, transit routing, network analysis, etc. The core graphserver library has Python bindings (and deprecated Ruby bindings), which provide easy construction, storage, and analysis of graph objects. There are also a handful of tools designed to work with Open Street Map data and GTFS transit data. Related projects: prender, transitfeed, osmosis --== PYTHON BINDINGS ==-- Prerequisites: Python 2.6+ (or 2.5+ for only graphserver.core) Build: $ cd pygs $ sudo python2.6 setup.py install setup.py installs several executables. On debian these go into /usr/local/bin/*. On Mac OS X, these go into /Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.6/bin/* gs_gtfsdb_build: create a GTFSDatabase (sqlite3 db) from a GTFS zip file $ gs_gtfsdb_build test/google_transit.zip test/google_transit.zip.gtfsdb gs_gtfsdb_inspect: run a query against a GTFSDatabase $ gs_gtfsdb_inspect test/google_transit.zip.gtfsdb "select * from agency" gs_osmdb_compile: compile an OSMDB from an OSM xml file $ (cd test && unzip map.osm.zip) $ gs_osmdb_compile test/map.osm test/map.osmdb gs_osmfilter: run one of the filter classes from graphserver.ext.osm.osmfilters on an OSMDB instance $ gs_osmfilter <Filter Name> <run|rerun|visualize> <osmdb_file> [<filter args> ...] gs_compile_gdb: the a graph compiler; accepts compiled GTFSDatabase(s) and/or a compiled OSMDB as inputs # compile only GTFS data $ gs_compile_gdb` -g bart.gtfsdb bart.gdb # compile an OSM street graph only $ gs_compile_gdb -o pygs/test/map.osmdb map.gdb # compile GTFS with OSM $ gs_compile_gdb -o pygs/test/map.osmdb -g bart.gtfsdb bart_with_streets.gdb # compile multiple GTFS files into one graph $ gs_compile_gdb -g A.gtfsdb -g B.gtfsdb -g ... Test a successful installation: $ python2.6 -c "import graphserver.core; graphserver.core.Graph(); print 'Graphserver can be imported'" Run the test harness (in verbose mode): user@graphserver/pygs$ python2.6 setup.py nosetests -v --== C .dll/.so ==-- Provides the core DLL for routing. It is not necessary to manually build this if using the Python bindings. Build: $ cd core $ make Install: $ cd core $ sudo make install
