Prerequisites

letrasbrackets

Description

In the bracket code, the blurred and dotted letters appear, sometimes they are confused with other letters.
Being in ubuntu 16.04 did not have this problem when going to ubuntu 18.04 this happened.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. uninstall the program and stay the same
  2. delete extensions remains the same
  3. change the font, all the same

Versions

Version of the OS you're running Ubuntu 18.04
Version of Brackets. Release 1.13 versión 1.13.0-17696 (release 49d29a8)

Hi @Nemachtilli ,

Source of font rendering issue is libfreetype6-2.8.1 which is default version for Ubuntu-18.04.
Upgrading or downgrading libfreetype6 will fix this issue.

You can download libfreetype6_2.8-0.2_amd64.deb from here for downgrading case:
http://snapshot.debian.org/package/freetype/2.8-0.2/#libfreetype6_2.8-0.2

Hi, it worked for me, You can download libfreetype6_2.8-0.2_amd64.deb.

I have a detail, I have to update or downgrade libfreetype6 every time I open brackets.

Every time I open brackets I have to have to update or downgrade libfreetype6, what form do I make it permanent?

Hi @Nemachtilli ,

Source of font rendering issue is libfreetype6-2.8.1 which is default version for Ubuntu-18.04.
Upgrading or downgrading libfreetype6 will fix this issue.

You can download libfreetype6_2.8-0.2_amd64.deb from here for downgrading case:

I noticed that this error goes away on Kubuntu 18.04 if I changed settings in:
(The default settings on Kubuntu needs to change).
System Settings >> Fonts >> Use Antialiasing (Enabled)
Click Configure >> Sub-pixel rendering type & Hinting Style should be set to None
Please see screenshots below.

I use Kubuntu 18.04:

System Settings >> Fonts >> Use Antialiasing (Enabled)
Click Configure >> Sub-pixel rendering type & Hinting Style should be set to None
Please see screenshots below.

I use Kubuntu 18.04:

In Ubuntu, I changed setting in Gnome Tweak > Fonts > Antialiasing : None

And after the restart, the result was wonderful: the issue has gone!

Brackets is Giving Me a lot of problems every time
So By By Brackets !!
