Maybe I'm being too conservative, but I prefer to avoid automatic upgrade of critical packages with regard to infrastructure management (e.g. puppet, puppetdb, ...)

We are setting up a monthly scheduled process to perform packages upgrade. Those packages related with infrastructure management will be certainly taken into account.
