for remembrance and new beginnings.

Linking Roots and Renaissance in the outer trigon, Cedar reminds us that to let go and move forward does not necessarily mean forgetting or discounting past experiences. And remembering the past doesn't mean that we are stuck there, or locked into those feelings and actions. We can transform our lives according to experience – in fact, that's the only way to bring lasting, positive change. (Ash is a great fertilizer...)

I sent out small sticks of cedar one New Year, laser-etched with the Aeiu symbol. This poem accompanied them:
For bridges burned and rightly so;
For fingers burned when you couldn't let go;
For midnight oil, and muscles' toil,
And hearts that told you yes or no...
For all that's burned within you, either
Past or present, take this cedar
Let it burn and breathe the smoke
And seek the heart of your Artichoke.

I heard somewhere that baggage is only baggage until you turn it into experience.
Not everything works forever, but it's worth it while it lasts.
