How to use the VirtualBox image of PyPTV

We provide a virtual machine appliance for VirtualBox software. It includes fully working Ubuntu desktop with the necessary development environment of GCC, CTEST, CMAKE, PYTHON, ANACONDA, NUMPY, SCIPY, ETS, CYTHON, wxPython and PYQT, that all together allow you to run PyPTV using liboptv library in 5-10 min, depending on your downloading speed.

Getting started

  1. Install VirtualBox https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads
  2. Download the 3.5Gb VirtualBox appliance file openptv.ova: http://www.mediafire.com/file/c820cww6b7styzq/openptv.ova/file
  3. Open VirtualBox, using menu import the OVA file into VirtualBox: File -> Import, use default settings
  4. the root user/password are both openptv

In the Ubuntu, open the terminal: Search -> Terminal, change the directory and run:

    cd pyptv/pyptv

    python pyptv_gui.py ../../test_cavity
