A link to help users quickly navigate back to the top of long pages of content:

Why

Explain why you think this should be added to the GOV.UK Design System.

  • Is it needed by multiple services across government?
  • Does it meets the needs of the users of those services?
  • Could those needs be better met by something already in the Design System?

Anything else

There's an example at the bottom of this page on GOV.UK

To do

  • Analyse analytics from GOV.UK to measure usage against page length

This page uses a slightly different implementation, where on scrolling down the link appears within a grey box anchored to the bottom of the window:

The Design System pages use another variant, where the link is anchored to the top of the left hand column when scrolling down. The text is also "Back to top":
