Magyarországon sok település neve utal arra, hogy hol van a település (pl. Dunaalmás, Bakonynána, vagy Borsodnádasd).
A térképen ezeket a településeket az előtag eredete (víz, földrajzi terület, város vagy megye) alapján színeztem, az előtag alapján csoportosítottam.
A KSH településnévtárából kigyűjtöttem azokat a településcsoportokat, ahol legalább három település nevének előtagja megegyezett. A települések határait az OpenStreetMap adatbázisából töltöttem le.
The goal of this project is to organize and display the various sources of municipality names in Hungary. Many settlements are named afer their location: for example a mountain range, a body of water, a historical county name. Municipalities are colored by this source of the name; names with the same prefix are grouped together (on mouseover – click to zoom to the group).
Municipality names were obtained from a data source from the Hungarian Central Statistical Office; geodata comes from OpenStreetMap.
