Trying this to fix windows end-of-line characters being pushed into the repository:

$ echo "* text=auto" >.gitattributes
$ git add --renormalize .
$ git status        # Show files that will be normalized
$ git commit -m "Introduce end-of-line normalization"

Requires git version 2.16 for the --renormalize command.
