What goes there?

  • Zoom shortcuts?
  • Hot keys?
  • Minicomputer commands?
  • All of the above?

I tend to think that hot keys are the most interesting thing, since it’s possible to show a thumbnail of the ship in question, and that’s cool and new. But it would be useful to be able to open a menu with zoom levels, since those have traditionally lived in the F-keys row.

Observation: right now, there’s nothing displayed in the touch bar at all, not even F-keys. It would be a nice first step to just get the F-keys back (there’s a workaround in System Preferences > Keyboard > Shortcuts, though).

The current default assignment of the F-keys is:
F1: Help
F2/3: Lower/Raise volume
F4: Mute music
F5: Expert net settings
F6: Fast motion
F7: (nothing)
F8: Transfer control
F9–12: Zoom 1:1–16

Maybe it would be good if there were a way to get to the options screen during a game. Then, the sound controls would be unnecessary.

The touch bar seems to be dead.
