Krypton is a Minecraft performance optimization mod that focuses primarily on its networking stack. It works on both the client and the server (although its features are geared towards server usage), and it doesn't require being installed on either side.

Krypton is designed to be minimally invasive but retain wire protocol compatibility with vanilla as much as possible.
