I'm not sure about including this functionality in Backdrop at this point. The use of the required HTML5 attribute introduced a number of regressions regarding both accessibility and usability. See the full issue at https://drupal.org/node/1797438. Right now the only working solution to solve the problems caused by the required attribute is to roll back the change. So rather than introducing the change and then rolling it back, I'd like to see if we could resolve the issues with HTML5 required validation first before we incorporate it into the project. |
