Wudooh is a browser extension that allows users to change the way Arabic script text appears in their browser to add more clarity. It is first and foremost an accessibility tool.

Wudooh's name comes from the Arabic وُضُوح (wuḍūḥ) meaning Clarity.

This is exactly what Wudooh was created to achieve, clarity for Arabic script on desktop browsers.

Because this changes Arabic script this does not apply to only Arabic text, but instead Wudooh targets all Arabic script characters in the Unicode range. So that includes other languages that use Arabic script such as Persian, Urdu, Kurdish, Uyghur, Pashto, Sindhi and more.

Inception

Wudooh actually started out as a fork of a very popular extension called Huruf by Jackson Petty which did exactly the same thing! He came up with the idea and it is only thanks to him that this project even exists.

However, Huruf had many missing features and issues that users (including myself) had been complaining about that were never addressed. Wudooh aims to be the successor to Huruf (which has not been updated in 4 years) by fixing its issues and adding new features requested by the 1,000+ users who had been using Huruf on a daily basis.

Why tho?

If you've ever read Arabic text on a desktop, you'll know that the default fonts are not clear at all. Not all websites will have legible fonts and font sizes and even if some do, why can't it be that ALL sites are legible.

I am a strong believer in Accessibility and more so in easy and customizable Accessibility. Users should be able to consume their content easily AND have the freedom to alter how their content is presented to them.

Wudooh achieves just that and dials that up to 11, read about Wudooh's features here
