INTRODUCTION/BACKGROUND

It is a well-known fact that digital India is the outcome of many innovation and technological advancements. Nowadays, Surveillance cameras in ATM centers are only for recording purpose. If any theft activities are occurred, it will be known only by human information.Then police will start investigating by the help of CCTV records.

Tracking and detection of objects is an essential component in various traffic monitoring systems, biometrics and security infrastructures, safety monitoring, various web applications and recognition of objects for mobile devices etc. One major application area of this process is the detection of robbery.

In this system the primary focus will be in the field of detection of suspicious activities or crime in an ATM (Automatic Teller Machine) which is basically a profitable bank service which enables financial transactions in public spaces where the machines are a replication of the bank clerks and tellers.

OBJECTIVE

The idea of creating an automated system was conceived after relative observations of the real life incidents that are happening in and around the globe. The increasing proliferation of the ATM frauds which involves activities like Camera Covering, Money grabbing inside ATM Center, Stealing the ATM Machine, Risky Voice is a matter of concern which would be tackled by the proposed system to enable secure financial transaction at anytime.

PRACTICAL UTILITY

The system deals with the development of an application for automation of video surveillance in ATM machines and detect any type of potential criminal activities that might be arising with the automated system which would considerably decrease the inefficiency that are existing in the prevalent systems.The system deals with the development of an application for automation of video surveillance in ATM machines and detect any type of potential criminal activities that might be arising with the automated system which would considerably decrease the inefficiency that are existing in the prevalent systems.

METHODOLOGY

The project follows a methodology of creating a system that is cost effective and has less hardware requirements.Thus,without making changes to the existing system this system can be used for ATM surveillance. The primary approach for the proposed system consists of -Background Subtraction,Object Detection and tracking, Feature Extractions,and Pattern Matching. The proposed system includes the specialized mechanisms for Camera Tampering, Human Collision, Risky voice analysis, Long Time Tracking, Counting the number of peoples. An alert (siren) will be generated each time anyone tries to destroy/tamper the camera by any means.Also, an alert will be generated if someone enters the chamber by covering his/her face by any means.Words like "HELP", "EMERGENCY" etc. will also be recognized by the inbuilt mic inside camera in case any person availing ATM services is attacked by robbers.The chamber gates will be locked, thus locking robbers/anti social elements inside, till police arrives.A mail will be send to the nearest police station and bank admin so that immediate actions can be taken.The entire mechanism takes place in real time, thus decreasing the time complexity to a great extent making the system an efficient mechanism to prevent any anti social activities.The space complexity will be reduced by processing only suspicious frames of a video and storing only such videos.

RELATION OF THE PROJECT TO LOCAL PROBLEM

Nowadays,ATM installed in remote areas (in villages or in isolated places) are prone to robbery.The innocent citizens using services of ATM,sometimes become victim of robberies and severe accidents.For safety measures,a guard is present 24*7 inside ATM chambers and a safety camera is also installed inside ATM chambers.Even though banks provide so much security keeping almost every point in mind,still banks are held liable for ATM robberies.

Thus, the idea is to develop an application for automation of video surveillance in ATM machines to detect any type of potential criminal activities that might be arising with the existing systems.An advanced Human detection system using Computer Vision and Machine Learning will be used which will give phenomenal results in the detection of the human activities and their categorization,tracking camera movements in videos(videos being recorded by the CCTV camera inside ATM chamber).

FUTURE SCOPE

The future scope of the project consist os the following-

• The system can be further used at various other crime locations for surveillance and crime prevention.
• It can be used in old age homes in place of panic button to identify a mishappening.
• It can be used for home surveillance.
• It can be used in farm fields for surveillance of crops.
• It can be used to avoid terrorist attacks.

RESULT

After training the machine using the training data, the algorithm was be able to detect abnormal and normal behaviors as expected. For example, if the person is trying to destroy the ATM or is trying to peep or is trying to block the camera then the system fired the alarm. When there is no such activity as shown in no alarm was fired.

CONCLUSION

The existing security for the present days ATM are facing a number of threats.Among these threats thefts in the ATM system is most common one.This project mainly focus on building an intelligent system that provide high class security to existing ATM system.The video stream obtained from the surveillance camera in the ATM room is feed to this framework.Based on the activities performed by the customer in the ATM room the system will report suspicious activities instantaneously.The main focus area of this project is to prevent crime in ATM by using image processing and machine learning.By implementing the proposed system in the existing ATM a robust atmosphere is created,which evaluate each and every actions inside the ATM.
