OLS: finding the proper ontology terms

Yasset Perez-Riverol edited this page Jul 2, 2021 · 1 revision

In order to search and find the proper ontology term to annotate a property of the sample of the RAW files in the SDRF, we recommend using the Ontology Lookup Service OLS.

How to use the website

There are two main ways of browsing the OLS:

  • Browse by ontology: By clicking on the ontology on the main page. The user enters the ontology on top level and is able to browse through the tree view to lower levels.

  • Search by term: Use the search box to enter the term that you are looking for. The provided results show all ontologies where the term was found. By using the advanced search, the user can further restrict the results to one or multiple ontologies or to a specific 'type'. Types can be class, property or individual. Using the advanced search, you can restrict searches to one or more ontology
