Bioc2019 logo/sticker

Hi @jotsetung - we will need a logo/sticker for the Bioc2019 conference in New York. Given your successful track record of conference and workshop stickers, you might be keen to give this one a go to.

I am more than happy to make one. Question is whether you like the sketchy-drawing-type of the stickers I usually make (see e.g. https://github.com/Bioconductor/BiocStickers/blob/master/events/EuroBioc2017/EuroBioc2017_light.png or https://github.com/Bioconductor/BiocStickers/blob/master/events/CSAMA/2018/CSAMA2018.png).

If so, some immediate ideas that come to my mind are:
a) statue of liberty holding the Bioconductor note/hockey-stick (as @mtmorgan calls it ;) )
b) brooklyn bridge with some DNA strand or similar.

It could look like the Statue of Liberty holding the Bioconductor logo with the silhouette of iconic NYC buildings in the background.

Something that looks like the first image with the buildings around the Statue of Liberty would be cool! :)

I guess you'd want to have the Empire State Building, the Chrysler Building, the Freedom Tower, and maybe even the Brooklyn Bridge.

finally found a minute to work on it... what do you think of the following?

Love it! One comment I did get from a few people when I showed it in lab meeting was that the double-helix looked like air pollution, but that color and some additional helix-ness might help clear that up.

air pollution - that's nice :) so, it's a hockey stick with air pollution then :)

The color I used there is the same as for the CSAMA2018 sticker, so it looks actually less dark when printed.

I like the lighter background! Also the 'windows' between the '1' and the '9' kind of look like a hyphen? Looks great!

This looks great!
I like the lighter background as well. Possibly, a light blue background would also work (we usually have clear blue skies 😄; border color might have to change).
The text does seem to get a bit lost for my eyes.
Maybe you could use a white borders on the text or something to make it stand out?

@LiNk-NY I'll try with blueish background. And yes, I know, the text get lost, but I added it with geom_text - don't know if I can get some white borders around. I'll try that too.

Question is also what text to use:
a) Bioc 2019
b) BioC 2019
c) Bioc2019
d) BioC2019

I am always confused whether or not using a capital C in the Bioconductor abbreviation.

Option with blue sky. Since it has a white border I colored the background in grey. Also, I increased the font size. It should be more readable now.

I've now added 3 variants of the sticker (https://github.com/Bioconductor/BiocStickers/tree/master/events/Bioc2019), 2 with blue background and 1 with light blue background. I leave it up to you to choose one of them. Also, let me know if you want some changes - or change the sticker yourself (the R script to generate the sticker is also included).
