Creating the forum structure

Podium is based on the following structure

Category > Forum > Thread > Post

Adding category

Sign in as Administrator and go to the Administration > Forums.
Click + Create new category button. Now you can set:

  • Category's Name will be visible on the categories' and forums' list and in breadcrumbs,
  • Category visible for guests if checked allows guest to see this category and its children (forums, threads, etc.),
  • Category's Meta Keywords (optional) will set meta tag "keywords" for this category overriding the global ones,
  • Category's Meta Description (optional) will set meta tag "description" for this category overriding the global one.

Click Create new category button to save it.

Once a category is there you can see it on the list and change its order with other categories. To do this drag and drop the four arrows handle icon visible on the left side next to the category's name up or down to set the new order.
On the right side you can see more buttons:

  1. Eye icon marking the guest visibility setting.
  2. List Forums button to go to the category's forums' list.
  3. Create new forum button to quickly add forum to the current category.
  4. Gear icon to go to the category's edit page where the main category's options can be changed.
  5. Trash icon to delete the current category with all its forums, threads and posts.

Adding forum

Click Create new forum button on the categories' list page to add a forum for the current category or click List Forums button for the chosen category and then click Create new forum button. Now you can set:

  • Forum's Name will be visible on the categories' and forums' list and in breadcrumbs,
  • Forum's Subtitle will be displayed underneath the forum's name,
  • Forum visible for guests if checked allows guest to see this forum and its threads - if forum's category is not visible for guest this option doesn't do anything,
  • Forum's Meta Keywords (optional) will set meta tag "keywords" for this forum overriding the category's and global ones,
  • Forum's Meta Description (optional) will set meta tag "description" for this forum overriding the category's and global one.

Click Create new forum button to save it.

Now forum can be seen on the left side menu of this page.
