This makes it so when there are zero values for the document count bucket, a value is still returned: https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/guide/current/_returning_empty_buckets.html
*Breaking Change* Since elastic often has sparse events, there are many cases when you want a different time unit for the rate "i.e. per hour". Also when you want totals using sum, this makes sure flaot math on discrete events does not distort the results.
