Dockerised TrinityCore

See GettingStarted.md for a guide on how to run TrinityCore in a fully Dockerised environment.

See docker/build/README.md for instructions regarding the TrinityCore build container, (published as Docker image nicolaw/trinitycore on Docker Hub at https://hub.docker.com/r/nicolaw/trinitycore/).

See https://github.com/neechbear/trinitycore-gce for TrinityCore on Google Cloud Platform.

Todo

Some planned future improvements to this project are as follows:

  1. Implement additional container for aowow asset browsing (https://github.com/Sarjuuk/aowow).

  2. Where possible, move parts of the main Makefile in sub-directories for each of the docker/* containers, thus simplifying the main Makefile.

  3. Harmonise docker/trinitycore/docker-compose.yaml to read and honor Makefile arguments, settings and variables.

    • Split out docker-compose.yaml in to smaller chunks to allow easy deployment of alternative configurations, such as using an external database instead of deploying a MariaDB container. (See https://docs.docker.com/compose/extends).
  4. Attempt to make Docker base container images work with Alpine, Ubuntu and CentOS as well as Debian Jessie.

  5. See what improvements can be incorporated from other similar projects like https://github.com/azerothcore/docker-files/.

  6. Add TravisCI and CodeClimate integration to the GitHub project.

  7. Bundle the tcadmin Bash completion command line tool somehow (https://github.com/neechbear/tcadmin).

  8. Document some more advanced use cases, such as a production/development hybrid configuration sharing bare metal and Dockerised components in unison.
