HIT Finder is a tool used to find HITs more efficiently on the MTurk marketplace. This helps enable workers to increase their earnings by knowing when something new or even work from favorite requester is posted.



Sections

Each HIT can have up to 7 columns and be displayed in three different sections depending on your settings.

Columns

These contain information about the HIT.

  • Action — Contains various helpful action buttons.
    • Information Icon — Brings up the HIT Information modal which shows all of the HITs information along with shortcut buttons to block or include the hit or requester.
  • Time — Shows the most recent time the HIT has been found in a search in HH:MMa/p.
  • Requester — Shows the requester name of the HIT. Link opens the requester search page in a new tab.
    • Requester Review Icon — Color based on the average requester review rating. Brings up the Requester Review modal.
    • HIT Tracker Requester Match Icon — Tries to match the requester id with of HIT in HIT Tracker. Check mark with a success colored (green) background if there is a match. Minus with a secondary colored (gray) background if there is no match.
  • Title — Shows the title of the HIT. Link opens a preview page for the HIT in a new window.
    • Export Icon — Brings up the Export HIT modal.
    • HIT Tracker Title Match Icon — Tries to match the title of any HIT in HIT Tracker. Check mark with a success colored (green) background if there is a match. Minus with a secondary colored (gray) background if there is no match.
  • Available — Labeled as HITs. Shows the amount of HITs available in the batch.
  • Reward — Labeled as Accept. Shows how much each HIT pays. Link opens an accept page for the HIT in a new window.
  • Masters — Labeled as M. Y if the HIT requires the Masters Qualification, N if the HIT does not.

Recent HITs

This is where all the HITs from the most recent search that made it past the filters and Block List will appear. You can minimize this section by using the button located on the left side of the Recent HITs header.

Logged HITs

This is where new HITs get logged when they are found. The HITs are ordered by their first found time (not their displayed most recent found time), newest HITs at the top, oldest HITs at the bottom. You can minimize this section by using the button located on the left side of the Recent HITs header.

Included HITs

This is where HITs that matched an item on the Include List will appear. You can clear this section by using the button located on the left side of the Included HITs header.


Block List

Is used to block HITs at a more specific level than what the filters can obtain. Items are displayed in alphanumeric order 0-9 then aA-zZ inside of the Block List modal.

Actions

  • Items — Brings up the Edit Block List modal for that particular item
  • Delete All — Will delete every entry in your Block List. You will receive a confirmation prompt first to prevent accidental deletions.
  • Import — Will ask to load a file to import your saved Block List. .json, .txt, or any other textish file type is supported.
  • Export — Will save a file to your computer that contains your Block List. This file is saved as mts-backup-YYYYMMDD-block-list.json
  • Add will bring up a blank Add To Block List modal.

Add/Edit Block List Item

Is used to add or edit items for the Block List.

  • Name is used to label the item in the Block List modal.
  • Match is used to check against the requester id, requester name, hit title and hit set id.
  • Strict Matching (recommended) forces the match to be 100% the same. If not checked, then survey will match Fun Survey.

Include List

Is used to alert you of HITs that you want to watch for. Items are displayed in alphanumeric order 0-9 then aA-zZ inside of the Include List modal.

Actions

  • Items — Brings up the Edit Include List modal for that particular item

Add/Edit Include List Item

Is used to add or edit items for the Include List.

  • Name is used to label the item in the Include List modal.
  • Match is used to check against a HIT's requester id, requester name, hit title and hit set id.
  • Strict Matching (recommended) forces the match to be 100% the same. If not checked, then survey will match Fun Survey.
  • Sound will trigger the sound set in Settings.
  • Alarm will trigger the alarm if the alarm is active.
  • Notification will trigger a desktop notification which you can preview or accept the HIT from.
  • Pushbullet will trigger a Pushbullet notification if enabled in the Settings and a token is provided.

Settings

Control how you want HIT Finder to search, alert and look.

Speed

  • Speed — How quickly you want to search MTurk in milliseconds. Set to 0 to only search once.

Filter

The following settings are used to control which HITs are requested from MTurk and subsequently filtered out:

  • Search Terms — Search using keywords (minimum 2 characters).
  • Sort By — Choose what HITs you want to be searched.
  • Page Size — How many HITs per search you want (1 - 100).
  • Minimum HITs Available — Sets the minimum HITs available before HITs get filtered.
  • Minimum Reward — Sets the minimum amount of pay per HIT to be returned.
  • Minimum Requester Rating — Sets the minimum averaged requester rating before HITs get filtered (0.0 - 5.0). Those with no rating will not get filtered.
  • HITs that — Restrict searches to only HITs that you are qualified to work on and/or have the Masters qualification.

Alerts

The following settings control how you are alerted to HITs and Include List matches:

  • New HIT Sound — The sound to play when a new HIT gets added to the Logged HITs section.
  • Include Match Delay — How long in minutes between Include List match triggers for each HIT.
  • Include Match Sound — The sound to play when a HIT matches your Include List.
  • Pushbullet State — Turn Pushbullet notifications on/off.
  • Pushbullet Token — Your Pushbullet access token required to send Pushbullet notifications.
  • Alarm — Clicking this will turn the alarm on, dismissing the Alarm is active warning turns the alarm off.

Display

The following settings control some of the miscellaneous aspect of HIT Finder's display:

  • Colored Rows — Colors the entire HIT row based on its averaged requester review rating.
  • Recent HITs Columns — Choose the columns you want displayed in the Recent HITs section.
  • Logged HITs Columns — Choose the columns you want displayed in the Logged HITs section.
  • Included HITs Columns — Choose the columns you want displayed in the Included HITs section.
