The following list of tools have been made to write "[tool name] is disabled when running inside a container. Please refer to your host system for subscription management.\n" to stderr and exit(-1):

  • subscription-manager-gui
  • rhsmcertd
  • rhn-migrate-classic-to-rhsm

The solution here should eventually be how we package subscription-manager for docker. I'm not sure what we want to do in the meantime. I doubt subscription-manager-gui will be installed at all inside of docker images, and the daemon probably won't ever run, so I'm not sure what we gain by disabling it. There may even be cases where we want to allow subscription-manager to behave normally inside of a docker (create its own consumer record, and consume subscriptions without host interaction)
