On a Jammy host, if one installs linux-image-generic-hwe-22.04-edge a 6.5 kernel will be installed. That kernel comes with:

$ journalctl -b-1 -k | head -n1
Jan 05 17:54:55 c2d kernel: Linux version 6.5.0-14-generic (buildd@lcy02-amd64-110) (x86_64-linux-gnu-gcc-12 (Ubuntu 12.3.0-1ubuntu1~22.04) 12.3.0, GNU ld (GNU Binutils for Ubuntu) 2.38) #14~22.04.1-Ubuntu SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Mon Nov 20 18:15:30 UTC 2 (Ubuntu 6.5.0-14.14~22.04.1-generic 6.5.3)

$ zfs --version
zfs-2.1.5-1ubuntu6~22.04.2
zfs-kmod-2.2.0-0ubuntu1~23.10

This prevents LXD from finding the 2.2 version of the zfs tooling:

@tomponline this was successfully tested on a Jammy host with the HWE -edge kernel (6.5.0-14-generic).
