I separated out the article-journal type and added a title as that is now required by Science.

Just to clarify, are you really adding a title for article-journal, or just modifying punctuation around it? Any chance you can provide a link here to show the new requirement?

I'm doing both. I added the title for both article-journal and everything caught by that final else. The punctuation is set differently because Science needs a comma after the title for articles, but I didn't want a comma after the title in a note I also had as a reference. (If you can point me in the direction of a better way to handle that, let me know and I'd be happy to update).

The importants bits are the note at the very top of the page and the examples near the bottom.
