When organizing multiple projects, we need to be able to easily assign milestones.

It feels right to be able to drag between milestones like this:

If the milestone doesn't exist for that project, creating it would be fine.

Just to add what I sent in via email before this was added:

[A way to create milestones] would also require a way to move issues to a milestone. Drag and drop would be fine, so long as there was a condensed list of milestones to drag to (instead of having to skip over all of the issues in each milestone).

That is, when there are a large number of issues in each milestone, dragging through all of the issues just to get to another milestone is time consuming. But, then again, only showing milestone names would make it impossible to prioritize the issue at the same time. So, I guess either way would work, but a solution that solved both of these issues would be ideal.

Thanks, this is definitely needed and pretty high on the priority list.

Dragging to change milestone is not shipped yet, but you can click the milestone name for any given issue to change it.

it would be a great fit for drag 'n drop

+1, is this still planned? (since it is no longer in a milestone)

It is, but no ETA yet.

+1 it's almost impossible from the PM point of you do some heavy planning without drag and drop across milestones, also empty milestones should show

+1 on this (cf. my earlier email @djreimer), especially now that there's no longer a dropdown to quickly switch milestones from the issues list.

Btw, an alternative way to let us move issues between milestones without having to "drag over" many issues (cf. @bfrohs #3 (comment)) in task board format (one column per milestone). The drag and drop distance between columns will be a lot shorter than between milestones in list format (especially if the filter is applied to only show milestones we're working on right now + the backlog).
