How did this get merged? It cannot possibly have passed CI. It has broken CI.

edsantiago added a commit to edsantiago/buildah that referenced this pull request May 22, 2023
Fixes the damage done by containers#4737. Renovatebot did something stupid,
and CI broke. Fix, refactor, and add a comment to warn against
this happening again.
